The Storyteller's Tales

These are the days of disconnection

These are the days of disconnection when hu-man and woman kind, abandoning the natural order of all of life, and with the very epitome of confused intentions, tear themselves repeatedly and destructively apart from the harmoniously connected whole, alive in being on the planet and throughout the living universe.

Casting aside as nothing the natural and mysterious Way, with its timeless beauty and perfection, as beyond and irrelevant to the ‘understanding’ that they worship and depend on, human beings have developed a growing, first fascination and then obsession, with their seemingly unique ability to create a world conceptually

and then to make it happen.

Unconstrained by the obvious lack of a greater planetary harmony in those actions, and avidly indulging in the reductive and impoverished, merely intellectual vision that characterises their unique human system of conceptualisation and communication and sets them apart from all of the other living species on the planet - blind to the devastating and destructive

effects of their exclusively human-centric actions, human beings in these days of disconnection

behave as if they stand astride a pinnacle in their own species-created world, guided by their every conceptual whim in a time of wonderful human achievement.

These are the days of disconnection, when a billion ugly footprints, trodden by human-kind around the world, as they stomp along what they see as their unique individual human paths, in a moment unseen and unappreciated by billions of those blinkered human eyes. are instantly transformed without judgement and liberated in the Way beyond all human understanding.

Ugly scars of misguided and poorly motivated human actions are instantly accepted and forgiven, liberated from their very human labels and mental shackles and absorbed without judgement into the great mystery beyond human understanding and into the wonderful connection, the inter-relatedness of all things - returned to the timeless perfection of all being.

It’s not that anything humans do could possibly be somehow ‘Not of the Way’. This is not about a breakdown in the natural order - how could that possibly be??? Rather, these sorrowful and disastrous

days of disconnection arise through a near species-wide blindness to the nature of the all-encompassing and compassionate Way we live in - and through the tragic and global seduction of our misplaced human identity.

Who and what human beings are, and who and what they think they are, are two very different things. The whys and the wherefores of how this tragic situation came about in our modern age is neither here nor there, cloaked as it is, in generations of young people

educated in the supremacy of human intelligence and the  reductive tragedy of a species making its identity

synonymous with a system of divisive human labelling

and mental activity centred around the illusion of ‘Me’

- No longer anchored in the Great Connection, human beings live in the isolated world of Me!

Suffice it to say that these are the days of disconnection

when one species; out of all and everything    mysteriously connected in Oneness, all living together, harmoniously arising into being in the universal core of aliveness and the timeless and perfect Way of all things; partially reidentified itself conceptually in an impoverished and a self-destructive manner when it accepted as its ultimate reality, a lesser engagement with life, not in Being, in the Way but only through the filter of their human system of thinking, with its conceptual ‘interpretations’ of living experiences

and the limiting and reductive, separating and labelling

system of language those interpretations were based in.

These are the days of disconnection when we can readily see the terrible consequences of that awful species-wide descent into a lesser identity. This is a time of planetary damage caused by a hopelessly incapacitated and blind-folded species, floundering around in its futile and doomed attempts to repair and to make good the chaos of its own making while depending solely on the very same divisive conceptual tools that contributed to the damage in the first place

- while continuing to deny the Way. All of love, natural compassion and simple connected wisdom is lost in human beings at this point!

These are the days of disconnection when human beings around the world love their humanly conceived ‘world’ almost to the exclusion of everything else!

Indifferent to the beauty and the profound connection

of all things in the present moment and to the natural compassion and caring that arises in the timeless perfection of the connected mystery that is life, human beings are endlessly fascinated by a world they see as primarily shaped by human projects, ideas, constructs and opinions.

These are the days of disconnection when people, rather than responding with an open heart and a caring body and mind to whatever might arise in this completely connected, unique and ever-changing, inter-dependant and living moment, choose rather to construct a disconnected and delusional life; a disembodied life identified with and operating out of a mental process, as if distinguishing oneself as ‘Me’ and then making ‘decisions’ and then taking ‘actions’ to do with that separate identity was the natural order of things.

These are the days of disconnection when human hands, eyes and minds touch, see and manipulate a million different, named and individually labelled things

but are blind to the beauty and to the wonder and to the eternally and universally connected and inter-connected nature of all that is.

Given seven and a half billion ‘Mes' who have slipped their true and universal anchor in aliveness and instead tied themselves to a labelled facsimile of life; living out a mere representation, a conceptualisation and a story

of who they think they are and what they think living is about, its not surprising to see how that species

has suffered and continues to suffer in our modern world.

Being disconnected is, after all, the very definition of suffering. And, unfortunately, the consequences of having a disconnected and delusional, decision making

and action taking species within the Great mystery

means that the suffering goes way beyond the imagined boundaries of their individual human bodies and minds.

In the mere blink of a universal eye, human beings with their so-called achievements and ‘advances’ have thrown so many disconnected manifestations of their human centred ‘Me’ thinking and their ungrounded actions out into the world, that their unique and human thought-bound ‘vision’ threatens to temporarily swamp our natural and wonderful world of living beings and threatens timelessly perfect living systems.

These are the days of disconnection when human beings, faced with clear evidence and the planet-wide consequences of their self-destructive actions, continue  to look for solutions in the form of human ambitions, ideas and inventions rather than see that that disconnected human pattern of behaviour

based on the supposed supremacy of human thinking and communication, is what has brought us to this moment of truth. The living universe, including, despite their blindness to it, human beings, happens within all-pervading and timeless laws and patterns that have been and will continue to be beyond all human understanding for all of eternity.

These are the days of disconnection, when human beings need to look first, not to the sum of all human knowledge, fatally compromised, inadequate and merely conceptual in nature, as it is, - thinking of a way to travel from a Past that never was towards a future that never will be, - but rather, first, reconnect! - and reopen that eternally available doorway to our inter-connected aliveness and the beauty that aliveness is and, in that way, to rediscover the mysterious Way in which we are already living in total harmony and complete inter-connectedness with every living being and all that arises in living presence.

First and second, human beings need to reconnect so that wholeness and aliveness can weave its magic way

and melt away their disconnected human cravings and needs, replacing them, first with a wonderful sense of wellbeing and a liberated, uncomplicated awareness of presence, and then, when they see more clearly, with a deep lake full of love and caring, with a simple responsive wisdom and a natural compassion for all similarly living beings and for the wonderful mystery of being alive that arises naturally to permeate their being.

Once reconnected with the whole of creation, in a world that is literally beyond human understanding; all things arising out of nothing and returning again to nothing; human beings rediscover what it is a to be alive and find themselves liberated from the shackles of that conceptualised living that was causing their suffering and, ultimately, destroying their world.

Even if only temporarily freed from those shackles initially, human beings once again remember and experience their true roots in the absolute and their reconnected identity in the timeless perfection of presence, beyond any thoughts of ‘Me’.

Then, through a lifelong practice of reconnecting, the beauty, the simplicity and the wonder of living life

responsively and moment by moment lays bare and reveals in all its self-deluding glory, every sorry aspect of that person’s former ‘identity’ and the thousand sordid ways that seductive forms of self-delusion

and self-obsession had conspired to damage, deny and destroy the beautiful, mysterious and connected world we live in, where all living beings and the whole of life

come into being as One.

Filled, in every new moment, with the natural compassion, simple wisdom and responsive caring

that comes with living in the living Way and with the wonder that simply ‘Being’ evokes in a human being

- liberated from his or her old disconnected and destructive conceptualised identity, one more human being is reconnected and free to play their untroubled and no longer needy part in taking care of all living beings in whatever situations, conversations and relationships might arise.

Life in the connected world is no longer about ‘Me’, it is about being One, being love in action.

  ----------------------------------

These are the days of disconnection, when human beings, alone amongst the species, became besotted with the possibilities that their unique use of language and ideas; in thoughts and in conversations; in writing and in reading; in books and in debate; opened up for them.

Seeing themselves as uniquely intelligent, people only two hundred years ago, once again set out to create a world and a civilisation of their own.

And these are the Days of Disconnection they created.
